The competencies of the M·A·S society comprise the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, scientific and practice oriented projects for the care and support of patients and their relatives as well as specialized initial and continuing education of M·A·S instructors and caregiving personnel in homes for seniors.

Early Diagnosis & Support
Psychological test and therapeutic conversations for early diagnosis
Both early diagnosis as well as classification of dementia stages.

Training and support of patients

Stage specific care and support in form of weekly group or individual sessions with M·A·S instructors. Places: M·A·S group rooms or patient's home.

Activation program for patients living in homes for seniors

Stage specific weekly training of Alzheimer and other dementia patients living in homes for seniors by M·A·S instructors.

Organization of regional branch offices

Relief Programs
Therapy and support stay (Therapie- und Förderungsaufenthalt -TuF)
A purposeful relief program for relatives and dementia patients.

Group meetings for relatives
Care and consultations for relatives is only meaningful if it is offered continuously. The M·A·S organizes monthly group meetings for relatives and caregivers.
(Reservation is required.)

Scientific Projects
Gesund Länger Pflegen (Healthy Long-Term Care) (2002 - 2005):
A project on early diagnosis of dementia related diseases. Sponsored by the Healthy Austria Fund (Fond Gesundes Österreich) and by the state of Upper Austria.

Activation Program (2004 - 2005):
A project for the support of elderly living in senior or nursing homes. Sponsored by the Austrian National Bank.
